Our modern technology in filtering spa & pool water works vastly differently than traditional sand, cartridges & DE. The difference is in the term Deep Zone 3-Dimensional Filtration. Sand is deep but only the top few inches trap the largest particles of crud, while a cartridge only uses its single layer surface. The Silver Ion Factor
In an expensive and patented process, Fibalon fibers are charged with silver ions that do not dissipate over time. Those silver ions in the fine fibers in each ball, suspend and reduce the reproduction of many common microorganisms in pool water.
